Clément’s Slippers

Commercial activity was paused for the entirety of 2024 to develop work without the constraint of price or time. All knitwear that year was made as gifts, taking as long as each piece needed to reach completion. This was the final item made as a gift, a pair of slippers for Clément. The recipient had tended to and befriended a pair of goats during the pandemic, Lilas and Léo, and requested a pair of slippers made of their wool to remember them by. The ultra raw quality of the fibre inspired the piece, the intention being to make footwear that felt manifest from nature, like cocoons. They each contain roughly 100g worth of east friesian wool as a base and together 1/3 to 1/2 of the bag of fleece of both goats felted overtop over multiple layers. A leather sole was added underneath to protect the wool and avoid slipping, a shearling insole was inserted, and a colourgrown organic pakucho cotton outer layer was crocheted as a final detail, protecting the sides from friction and pilling. They were made to hug the feet and feel cozy with an unexpected, fun style, reminiscent of the personalities of the goats they came from.
