Moonbather Sweater

Commercial activity was paused for the entirety of 2024 to develop work without the constraint of price or time. All knitwear that year was made as gifts, taking as long as each piece needed to reach completion. This was the third sweater made as a gift, for Marie-Claire, a close friend since childhood with a running-naked-in-the-woods-under-the-full-moon spirit that gave the piece its name. The text knit around the body is an original poem, from spending time together that year walking the forest, after the pair moved back to their hometown at the same time. The phrases run cyclically around the garment: "Time is cyclical / I've seen many moons / Celestial repetition bears universal transformation / The end is nigh / A new era begins." This sweater was knit on a retro hand-operated machine in organic cotton and linen yarn hand-dyed in studio, using intarsia for the imagery and fair isle for the lettering.
